Technical Indicator Tool

Analyze market trends with FlipSack.com's free Technical Indicator Tool. Calculate Simple Moving Average (SMA), Relative Strength Index (RSI), and Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) for stocks, crypto, or forex. Enter at least 15 closing prices (comma-separated) and adjust parameters to get instant results and a visual chart, ideal for beginner and expert traders.

How to Use

  • Closing Prices: Enter a comma-separated list of at least 15 closing prices (e.g., 100,102,101,...). More prices improve accuracy.
  • SMA Period: Number of periods for Simple Moving Average (e.g., 5). Minimum 1.
  • RSI Period: Number of periods for Relative Strength Index (e.g., 7). Minimum 1.
  • MACD Parameters: Fast EMA (e.g., 6), Slow EMA (e.g., 10), Signal Line (e.g., 5). Fast EMA must be less than Slow EMA.
  • Click Calculate for results and a chart. Ensure enough prices for the largest period (e.g., Slow EMA + Signal Line).

Indicator Explanations

SMA (Simple Moving Average): Averages closing prices over a set period to identify trends. A rising SMA suggests an uptrend; a falling SMA indicates a downtrend. Great for beginners to spot trend direction.

RSI (Relative Strength Index): Measures momentum on a 0-100 scale. Above 70 may indicate overbought; below 30 suggests oversold. Useful for spotting potential reversals (not shown in chart due to scale).

MACD (Moving Average Convergence Divergence): Tracks momentum using two EMAs. MACD Line (Fast EMA - Slow EMA) crossing above the Signal Line is bullish; below is bearish. The Histogram shows the difference, aiding experts in timing trades (Histogram not shown in chart).

Formulas

SMA = Sum of Closing Prices over N Periods / N

RSI = 100 - (100 / (1 + (Average Gain / Average Loss)))

MACD Line = Fast EMA - Slow EMA

Signal Line = EMA of MACD Line over Signal Period

Histogram = MACD Line - Signal Line
